Restore The 9/11 Tribute Lights – Letter And Press Release – Sam Pirozzolo To Mayor DeBlasio
August 8, 2020
The Honorable Bill deBlasio
Mayor
City Hall
New York NY 10007
Re: 9/11 Memorial Lights
Dear Mayor de Blasio,
I am writing to you concerning a subject that is not only important to all New Yorkers but to all of America as well. It seems that due to Coronavirus fears, our sworn to Never Forget 9/11 Memorial Light display has been cancelled. I am certain that everyone agrees that the Coronavirus is a profoundly serious matter and deserves to be handled with utmost care, caution, and respect, however, this memorial surely transcends the difficulties of the virus. I am sure that as our country begins getting back to work, as our professional sport teams begin to play, as we send our teachers and children back to school, that we can implement protective measures to continue our Never Forget 9/11 Light memorial.
I would, as I am sure thousands if not tens of thousands of New Yorkers and American would be willing to volunteer my time to keep this display operating this year and every year.
New York City, via the 9/11 attacks has become a symbol of our national pride, remembrance, and our resilience. Please help us overcome this obstacle and restore our lights.
Sam Pirozzolo

“How can this be possible? What happened to that American can do attitude? I understand that the Coronavirus is serious business but if all of America is starting to get back to work, if we are starting to play sports, if our children and teachers are going back to school, then surely we can take the precautions needed to keep our 9/11 light lit this year and every year,” said Pirozzolo. Sam has created a petition called, Never Forget — Keep the 9/11 lights which you can sign by visiting his Facebook page Sam For City Council.
