GILLIBRAND ANNOUNCES OVER $6 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR EARLY HEAD START PROGRAM IN NEW YORK CITY

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced $6,541,628 in Early Head Start funding for Acelero, Inc. in New York City. The funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and will be used to provide comprehensive early childhood education as well as health and support services to low-income children and families.

“Early Head Start programs across New York State help better prepare our children to be active participants and leaders in our society,” said Senator Gillibrand. “These programs are vital to providing our communities with the day-to-day education and services that are required to ensure that all children, regardless of their socioeconomic background, can reach their full potential. This funding will help ensure that young children and families in New York City will have accessible and quality child care and support services. I will continue working to ensure that these essential programs have the funding and resources they need to nurture our children and prepare them for their futures.”

Head Start programs provide low-income children from birth to age five with comprehensive child development programs, as well as support and services for families. The comprehensive services Head Start and Early Head Start offer include early education, health screenings, promoting social and emotional health, nutrition, connection to other social services, and services for children with disabilities.
