Yesterday, President Biden issued a letter in which he announced that he was dropping out of the presidential race. The text of the letter follows the statements. Staten Island’s politicians Rep. Malliotakis ana Asm. Pirozzolo, along with Sen. Gillibrand and Mayor Adams also commended on this new development:
Malliotakis: If Biden is Unfit to Run, He’s Unfit to Serve
(NEW YORK, NY) – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today released the following statement after President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race:
“For the same reason Joe Biden is unfit to run, he is unfit to continue serving and should resign immediately. Make no mistake, whoever replaces Joe Biden on the ballot will push the same left wing Democrat agenda that is destroying our country and has led to an unprecedented illegal immigration crisis, unsafe and unaffordable cities, and record high interest rates, energy costs, and food prices.”
Asm. Pirozzolo provided the following statement to the Staten Islander News:
These last few weeks have cemented in the minds of everyone what many of us knew for four years. That Joe Biden is both physically and cognitively unfit to hold the position of leader of the free world. And yet, the entire democrat party and the media perpetrated the largest and most dangerous cover-up in American history to retain their power. That is unforgivable and probably treasonous. Either way it makes all the co-conspirators to this massive cover up unable to be trusted with anything.
GILLIBRAND STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S DECISION NOT TO SEEK REELECTION
Washington, D.C. – Regarding President Biden’s announcement that he will not seek reelection, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand issued the following statement:
“President Biden has served our country with courage, compassion, integrity and decency. I am honored to have served in the Senate during his administration, which achieved historic accomplishments related to gun safety, veterans’ health care, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, climate change, prescription drugs, and more. President Biden has improved the lives of millions of Americans, and leaves behind a legacy that will echo for generations. On behalf of myself and every New Yorker: Thank you, Joe.”
MAYOR ADAMS’ STATEMENT ON DECISION BY PRESIDENT BIDEN NOT TO SEEK REELECTION
NEW YORK – New York City Mayor Eric Adams today released the following statement after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection this November:
“America owes a debt of gratitude to President Joe Biden for his decades of service. He and his team took us out of COVID, stabilized the country, and restored the soul of the nation.
“President Biden is now again delivering for the American people by passing the torch at a critical moment, when the country needs strong leadership from a new generation.
“From here, the Democratic Party must continue to put working-people first and address their concerns about the cost of living, public safety, and our shared democratic values. I look forward to working with senior members of the party as we make our push towards November and ensure we address the concerns of New Yorkers and all Americans.”

My Fellow Americans,
Over the past three and a half years, we have made great progress as a Nation.
Today, America has the strongest economy in the world. We’ve made historic investments in rebuilding our Nation, in lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, and in expanding affordable health care to a record number of Americans. We’ve provided critically needed care to a million veterans exposed to toxic substances. Passed the first gun safety law in 30 years. Appointed the first African American woman to the Supreme Court. And passed the most important climate legislation in the history of the world. America has never been better positioned to lead than we are today.
I know none of this could have been done without you, the American people. Together, we overcame a once in a century pandemic and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. We’ve protected and preserved our Democracy. And we’ve revitalized and strengthened our alliances around the world.
It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.
I will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision.
For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard to see me reelected. I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work. And let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed in me.
I believe today what I always have: that there is nothing America can’t do — when we do it together. We just have to remember we are the United States of America.
