BP Fossella to Kick Off Second Annual Staten Island High School Girls’ Basketball Tournament

Staten Island, NY – Borough President Vito Fossella kicked off the second annual Staten Island High School Girls’ Basketball Tournament at a press conference at the Michael J. Petrides School on Thursday, January 23rd at 3:15 PM.
The tournament brings together teams from all thirteen basketball-playing high schools on Staten Island – eight from PSAL, four from CHSAA, and Staten Island Academy. The tournament’s initial rounds took place Friday at Moore Catholic High School, and Sunday at St. Joseph Hill Academy. The tournament’s quarterfinals and semifinals took place Tuesday and Thursday at Petrides, respectively, concluding with a championship game on Saturday, February 1st.
The tournament’s games were livestreamed by Community Media of Staten Island.
Joining the Borough President in this kickoff were members of the competing teams, their coaches, the committee members governing the tournament, and announcers.
