The below event has been canceled for this weekend due to forecasts of rain. We will provide an update when they have rescheduled.
Editor’s note: Staten Islander News has covered some of the other Staten Island FerryHawks events that give back to the community. These have included the recent bicycle giveaway and a community movie night organizes with Councilmember Kamillah Hanks. Check back next week for photos from this game.
Join us on Staten Island for a fun-filled day of community, baseball, and giving back. The Day of Champions returns Sunday, July 20, 2025, at SIUH Community Park—benefiting Shriners Children’s.
This fun-filled event will feature a thrilling softball game between New York’s finest and bravest – the NYPD and FDNY. Yankees legend John Sterling will provide live play-by-play commentary, promising a day of action and entertainment for everyone. The event isn’t just about the game; it’s about supporting a greater cause. Proceeds from the day will go toward Shriners Children’s, dedicated to providing hope and healing for children with complex conditions, regardless of the families’ ability to pay or insurance status.
In addition to the big game, the day will be packed with exciting pre-game activities, including:
· Little League Pre-Game with play-by-play by John Sterling
· Meet & greets with sports legends like Dwight “Doc” Gooden and WABC personalities
· Home Run Derby and Fastest Pitch Contest
