Limitless Monday – Would You Change Places With Yourself 1 Year Ago? Excuses Or Progress?

Limitless Monday – Would you change places with yourself 1 year ago?

Here’s a question to start off your week.

Would you change places with yourself one year ago? What about five years ago?

It’s a question we should all be asking ourselves on a regular basis.

I asked that question of myself as soon as I heard it uttered for the first time the other day. My answer was a resounding no, and that should be your answer, too.

The same applies to five years ago. It’s an easy question for me to answer, however, as five years ago, I was just emerging from prison. There have been a lot of positives since then. I’ve come a long way, physically and mentally – not monetarily, although I am confident that will follow in good time.

Asking these two questions of yourself is a worthwhile exercise, as it focuses on how far you have progressed and most importantly, whether you have gone backwards rather than forwards. The right answer should always be no. It’s a sign you are growing and following your chosen path.

The best results are seen when comparing yourself to a year or more ago as opposed to attempting to measure your progress after a few days or weeks and becoming frustrated.

Compared to a year ago, we should see ourselves as more developed and skilled in certain areas, and hopefully wiser, having learned from the setbacks and challenges we’ve encountered along the way.

If we are not seeing much change, there is something wrong. It probably explains why you may be feeling bored and unfulfilled. If this is you, then it’s time to set new ambitious goals and get moving.

Remember this: in 12 months you will either have 12 months of excuses or 12 months of progress. The choice, my friend, is yours.

Happy Monday!
