Chat & Chew Event, Wednesday, August 20th, 2025

Editor’s note: Last June, we covered the Pride Center’s Pride Month celebrations, including an event at Dave & Buster’s, an interfaith discussion, and a Night at the Carousel.

Regarding the Chat & Chew event, coming up tomorrow, Staten Islander asked the following questions of The Pride Center Of Staten Island.  Questions are in bold, answers in italics:

Can you provide more details about the Chat & Chew event?  Are there specific topics that will be covered in the workshops? Are participants encouraged to bring questions they may have about local issues (or national issues)? What is the main focus of this event?

The chat and chew is an express cultural awareness workshop discussing how to be inclusive in different environments. Talks will be focused on pronouns, respecting people’s journeys, and different labels people may use. And intro  on getting comfortable having these conversations in a judgement free zone.
There will be some amount of time for questions related to the content discussed. This opportunity opens the door for further discussions and opportunity to tap into the resources at the center.
