Editor’s note: Coming up soon will be the Materials for the Arts’ annual back-to-school supplies for teachers initiative, which usually begins sometime in September. Teachers at any school and for every grade level are welcome at the MFTA warehouse to choose supplies for their classes to spark unbridled creativity in their students – where their creativity is not bounded by a lack of supplies but by their own imaginations. This is the announcement for last year’s event. Councilmember Hanks also held this same back-to-school supply giveaway last year.

I’m excited to invite you to our 2nd annual Back-to-School Supply Giveaway and Basketball Clinic with the New York Knicks!
📅 Date: Friday, August 29
🕚 Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📍 Location: The Big Park, Mariners Harbor
This free community event will feature:
- Free school supplies
- Food, drinks, and ice cream from the Grace Foundation
- A live DJ from Maker Park Radio
- Special appearances by New York Knicks alumni
- A basketball clinic hosted by the Knicks starting at 1:00 PM
