NYC’s Fallen 1st Responders Benefit: Staten Island’s Own Pete Davidson Creates Car For eBay’s Built To Spec Auction – Answer The Call

Below is a slideshow of photos from the modification building and of the listing:

We asked: If there is a statement Mr. Davidson would like to provide for our Staten Island readers, that would be appreciated.

We reached out to the charity directly to find out how many families from Staten Island have been helped by them. They have a rolling database of families they have helped (522 last year).  It is rated by Charity Navigator (among other positive impacts):

Here is his quote he provided: “I’m about to be a dad, so I figured it was time to drive something practical but not boring,” said Davidson. “I’ve always used eBay to find just about anything, like classic TV memorabilia and sneakers, so of course that’s where I found my van too.”

And Answer the Call supported Pete’s family and I believe many others in Staten Island.

We asked the charity the following: I wanted to inquire if you know how many families that are from Staten Island have been helped by your charity, either in the last year or over the time of your charity’s existence.  Your Form 990 mentions that you have a rolling database of families who have been assisted by your organization, and we are working on a story about Pete Davidson’s upcoming donation to your charity.

Here is their answer:

Thank you so much for reaching out and for your interest in Answer the Call. We’re grateful that you’re helping to highlight Pete Davidson’s generous upcoming support of our mission.

Answer the Call has been supporting families of fallen first responders since 1985, and over those four decades we’ve helped hundreds of families across all five boroughs. We have served over 1,000 families since inception and estimate at least 10% of those families were based in Staten Island.

It’s important to note that because many of our beneficiaries relocate at different points in their lives, the cumulative Staten Island total over 40 years is likely much higher, especially given the borough’s deep representation among New York City’s first responder community.

I also want to point out that Pete’s generosity has expanded to two campaigns – he is donating to us via an eBay campaign here and an Altroo campaign here. We’re incredibly grateful to Pete and honored that he has declared Answer the Call his favorite charity to support!

eBay launched “Built to Spec: Pete Davidson,” the first in its new “Built to Spec” series, which connects cultural figures, builders, and automotive enthusiasts to design custom rides using cars, parts, and accessories from the marketplace.

For the inaugural installment, comedian and soon-to-be father Pete Davidson has designed the ultimate “dad van,” blending style, comfort, and performance in a one-of-a-kind ride.

Pete worked with eBay and builder Tony Angelo to create a vehicle that’s as practical as it is cool, perfect for parents who want to level up their daily drive without sacrificing personality.

Plus, a second fully loaded van – modified with parts hand-selected by Pete – will be up for auction. All proceeds benefit Answer the Call, a charity that supports families of fallen NYC first responders. Fans can bid at ebay.com/petedavidson through December 19th.

This collaboration shows how accessible and fun vehicle customization can be with eBay. From free returns on parts and accessories to buying a vehicle in one simple and secure experience, it’s never been easier to find or build your dream car.

SAN JOSE, Calif. – eBay launched “Built to Spec: Pete Davidson,” the first in its new “Built to Spec” series. The program connects cultural figures, builders, and automotive enthusiasts to design custom rides using cars, parts, and accessories from eBay.

For the debut collaboration, Davidson worked with eBay to create a custom minivan. The result is a one-of-a-kind ride built for performance, comfort, and everyday practicality as he prepares for fatherhood.

“I’m about to be a dad, so I figured it was time to drive something practical but not boring,” said Davidson. “I’ve always used eBay to find just about anything, like classic TV memorabilia and sneakers, so of course that’s where I found my van too.”

“eBay is where car enthusiasts bring their ideas to life—from full vehicles to the parts that make them unique,” said Jesse Kiefer, Vice President of Global Parts and Accessories at eBay. “‘Built to Spec’ shows how our marketplace makes it simple and inspiring to build something truly your own.”

The custom Honda Odyssey, built by Tony Angelo and the Stay Tuned crew, showcases the power of eBay to turn imagination into reality, featuring:

  • Valvetronic Designs Valved Muffler
  • aFe Power Takeda Cold Air Intake
  • ARB Retractable Awning with LED
