Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony At Staten Island’s Borough Hall With BP Fossella, Santa, Miss Staten Island – Miss Richmond County
Editor’s note: We also covered the borough president’s tree lighting ceremony hosted last year.  Below, view a slideshow of photos taken at the event by Sean Fitzpatrick and a few by the Borough President:
Staten Islanders sipped hot chocolate as Borough President Vito Fossella — and Santa Claus himself — flipped a giant switch to light our Christmas tree on Borough Hall Plaza last night.
“It’s a wonderful time of year to celebrate, and to come together in spirit and family and faith, as we say Merry Christmas to all who celebrate,” said Borough President Fossella. “To all of you, have a great time, God bless you all. God bless this great country of ours.”
The evening featured spirited performances by the Miss Staten Island-Miss Richmond County Scholarship Organization, MCDC-Miss Cheryls Dance Company and the P.S. 29 Chorus.
Frankie the FerryHawk also made a special appearance.
Thank you to our partners for making the event special for our neighbors: Community Media of Staten Island, Allstate and the Staten Island FerryHawks.
Our thanks to Joyce’s Tavern for providing hot chocolate and fresh chocolate chip cookies.
As always, a special thank you to the NYPD and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.
We hope those who joined us took home a little piece of holiday magic.
