Staten Islanders, Residents of All Five Boroughs: MetroPlusHealth Expands Access To Pediatric Care With Addition Of Tribeca Pediatrics To Care Network

Editor’s note: Readers may remember our coverage of the newly opened MetroPlusHealth centralized facility in New Dorp.  New York residents, including Staten Islanders, can go to this location to sign up for healthcare available through City and State programs.  According to a recent survey conducted earlier this year, 42% of New Yorkers have significantly cut back on leisure and lifestyle spending due to healthcare costs.  About a month or so ago, New Yorkers whose health insurance was previously fully paid for by the government, due to their income being between 200% and 250% of the federal poverty level, will lose their insurance.  This is due to the changes in the OBBBA at the federal level that reduced eligibility for Medicaid and certain types of private health insurance which many people required rebates for in order to afford.  As health insurance rates skyrocket due to a smaller pool of eligible patients, more and more people are expected to lose or drop their health insurance coverage due to its lack of affordability.   About the Essential Plan (the technical name for the plan above): “For example, a single New Yorker with an annual income of $31,300-$39,125 will lose their health care coverage under the Essential Plan.”  MetroPlusHealth is a fully owned subsidiary of the NYC Health + Hospitals city-owned and operated hospital network, to which Maimonides has just been added

Below, find an announcement from MetroPlusHealth that may be of interest to Staten Islanders as New York families continue to navigate access to pediatric care.

MetroPlusHealth announced that Tribeca Pediatrics has joined its provider network, adding nearly 150 pediatricians across more than 50 locations throughout New York City and beyond. The expansion gives MetroPlusHealth members access to a broad range of pediatric services, including newborn care, well-child visits, same-day sick visits, weekend hours, virtual appointments, and mental health screenings.

The move significantly expands pediatric access across the five boroughs and comes as families increasingly prioritize convenience, flexible scheduling, and care close to home.

Flexible access to pediatric care includes well visit care from newborn to graduation, same day sick visits, weekend hours, and virtual visits

(New York, NY) – MetroPlusHealth announced that Tribeca Pediatrics, one of New York City’s most trusted pediatric providers, has officially joined its growing network.  This expansion brings nearly 150 pediatricians across more than 50 locations, significantly increasing access to high-quality pediatric care for families.

The addition of Tribeca Pediatrics reflects MetroPlusHealth’s ongoing commitment – championed by President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Talya Schwartz – to expanding access to convenient, compassionate care. Tribeca Pediatrics is now in-network for all MetroPlusHealth members across every line of business.

“As a pediatrician myself, I know how important it is for parents to find a provider they like and trust,” said Dr. Talya Schwartz. “With this partnership, we’re making it easier than ever for our tiniest New Yorkers to get the high-quality care they deserve. We’re happy to welcome Tribeca Pediatrics into our network, continuing our commitment to meet families where they are.”

Tribeca Pediatrics’ footprint across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx, ensures that MetroPlusHealth families can access care close to home, school, or work. Members can now access its full range of services, including newborn care, well child visits, vaccinations, same-day sick visits, developmental screenings, and virtual visits. Tribeca Pediatrics also offers mental health screenings and basic services to support patients’ emotional well-being, address behavioral concerns, and provide care for the mental health needs of older children and teens. The practice has no waitlist for new patients, and offers easy registration, records transfer, and scheduling.

For more than three decades, Tribeca Pediatrics has provided accessible, family-centered care for children. What began in 1994 as a single practice in Tribeca has grown into a broad network of neighborhood offices spanning all five boroughs, and beyond.

MetroPlusHealth continues to expand its provider network as part of its long-term strategy to offer New Yorkers high quality, low-cost, and convenient health care options. The MetroPlusHealth network includes tens of thousands of providers and more than 40 hospitals and urgent care centers, including NYC Health + Hospitals, NYU Langone Health, Mount Sinai, CityMD, Montefiore, LabCorp, Lenox Hill Radiology, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and others.
