Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton Announces $60,000 Secured for P.S. 195 The Manhattan Beach School

BROOKLYN, NY – Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton is proud to announce $60,000 in funding for P.S. 195 The Manhattan Beach School. The funding will be utilized to make necessary electrical and air conditioning upgrades to the school’s gymnasium. As the only public elementary school in Manhattan Beach, P.S. 195 serves a majority of the students from the neighborhood beginning with Pre-K and extending through grade 5.
This allocation builds on previous projects that Senator Scarcella-Spanton funded for the P.S. 195 community. Senator Scarcella-Spanton allocated two $10,000 awards for the school’s environmental studies program during two previous school years. The funding allowed students to learn about their local environments, in partnership with the New York Aquarium.
“P.S. 195 provides wonderful opportunities and experiences for students across Southern Brooklyn each and every school year, especially for our neighbors living in Manhattan Beach,” said Senator Scarcella-Spanton. “I am proud to have secured $60,000 in capital funding to ensure its students have access to adequate, safe facilities during their time in elementary school. Whether it’s funding for educational programming, capital enhancements to improve the building’s longevity, or supporting the school community throughout important milestones, I am always proud to support this amazing school. Senator Scarcella-Spanton was appointed as Chair of the New York State Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs and continues to advocate for legislation that benefits veterans and their families. She is also a member of the Committees on Civil Service and Pensions, Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation, Disabilities, Insurance, Labor, and Women’s Issues.
