Fort Wadsworth Beach in Staten Island
Fort Wadsworth Beach offers an incredible place to spend the day in the shadow of the Verrazzano Bridge. When it comes to beaches on SI, you can’t come close to the VZ than this.
The beach is narrower than some other Staten Island beaches, from shore to water; the dunes are fully grown with vegetation, ad so the beach is short. If you venture within the wooded area, be careful not to step on a napping beach-goer or startle a family eating a quiet lunch in the shade! This beach is not manicured, and there are often many branches scattered about.
Please note: Because this beach is not within the well-trafficked areas, there may be instances of topless sunbathing. While legal in NYC, some may find this offensive.
