RAHWAY POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING INCIDENT
Editor’s note: Staten Islander previously reported on another shooting incident, this one in the City of Linden. The City of Rahway also issued a warning recently about keyfobs and criminals targeting them when they are left just inside people’s homes with unlocked doors, where thieves enter, take the fob, and steal a car from residents’ driveways.
Rahway, NJ – October 23, 2024 – The Rahway Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred near the intersection of Bond and Washington Streets, announced Director of Police Nicholas G. Breiner and Chief Law Enforcement Officer Shawn M. Ganley.
At approximately 7:15 PM on October 22, 2024, Rahway Police responded to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers were directed to a secondary location at the Exxon Gas Station, where they located a 20-year-old male victim with a single gunshot wound. The victim was treated on scene and transported to a regional trauma center by emergency medical services. He currently remains in stable condition.
An initial investigation indicates the shooting took place near the basketball courts at Bond and Washington Streets. Two additional individuals were present at the time of the incident. The Union County Crime Scene Unit and Middlesex County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit responded to assist with the investigation.
