SENATOR LANZA & JCC OF STATEN ISLAND TO HOST ANNUAL RESOURCE FAIR

Editor’s note: We have covered the announcement of this event for several years now, including last year’s event.  We have also covered the Vietnam Veteran’s Barbecue, a free event honoring the brave men and women who fought for our country in Vietnam and who are often ostracized due to its unpopularity.  Check back next weekend to see our interview with the mother of an autistic adult who was diagnosed later in life but has always struggled with being different and making friends.  His mother works at ArchCare, the nursing home charitable arm of the Catholic Church, in a long-term facility caring for older adults and others who need help caring for themselves.  ArchCare also runs Eger Healthcare, which was saved from bankruptcy and the removal of an essential service (they provide assisted living, independent living, and nursing home living for local island residents, both those that can afford it and now those who cannot as well).   Eger has added new services to their senior population, including throwing them a Senior Prom most recently,  complete with special hairstyles provided by the local Paul Mitchell school for cosmetology.   Staten Island’s Institute For Basic Research last year anounced with Governor Hochul that their facility is to be modernized with an added learning center.

Join Senator Andrew Lanza and JCC of Staten Island on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 9:30am – 12:30pm at the annual Resource Fair for People with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities.
