1986 World Series Champion and Baseball Legend Wally Backman to Become New Field Manager of the Staten Island FerryHawks

NEW YORK, N.Y. — John Catsimatidis, CEO and President of the Staten Island FerryHawks, alongside General Manager Gary Perone and team leadership, will host a special breakfast press conference to announce a major new chapter for the Staten Island FerryHawks.
The event will officially introduce Wally Backman as the team’s new field manager. Backman was a key member of the legendary 1986 World Series Championship New York Mets team, a former MLB All-Star, and has decades of experience as a player and professional baseball manager.
The announcement brought together business leaders, sports executives, and members of the media to discuss the FerryHawks’ vision for the future of professional baseball in New York City and the continued growth of the Staten Island franchise.
