Migrant Crisis: 4th St John Villa Protest On Staten Island Keeps Community Pressure On NYC Mayor To Close Operating Migrant Shelter At This Location

On Monday night, there was a fourth protest at the site of the former St. John Villa Academy, located on Staten Island. Scott LoBaido and several other speakers stressed that this is not about racism or anti-immigrant sentiment, but rather about protecting the community’s children from unvetted and potentially dangerous migrants coming into the area. According to the Mayor, in a recent Town Hall, the migrant crisis is at an unsustainable level. In fact, he believes that not only is there no solution in sight to the problem, but this issue “…will destroy New York City…,” reducing resident’s access to essential services. Thus far, there is a $12 billion budget deficit, which is only getting worse over time.
