Join us for a Student Loans Webinar!

Editor’s note: Be sure to check back in the coming weeks, as we have requested a recording of this useful webinar, and we will be updating this same article with the video. You can also view our previous article and video about a Town Hall held by Rep. AOC where she answered questions from constituents and provided updates about the budget reconciliation bill which has since passed.  She also created a helpful guide to answer the when and what questions about the same bill (when the changes will go into effect and what the changes are). Student loans have also been a point of concern among other politicians lately, including Senator Sanders and Senator Gillibrand, both of whom have said that borrowers should be offered more options, not less, so that their student loans can be paid off in a timely fashion and at an affordable rate, rather than taking away payment plan options and allowing fewer possibilities for students to meet their financial obligations if they fall on hard times and cannot afford the regular monthly payments expected.  Rep. AOC also put out a call to constituents, asking what student loan forgiveness means for them personally. Borrowers in New York City will have more options, as the Mayor recently instituted the first in the nation municipal student loan and college assistance program for qualifying residents.

On August 27th, the Office of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Community Service Society of New York’s Education Debt Consumer Assistance Program (EDCAP) will be hosting a student loans webinar for student loan borrowers to learn about major changes to the federal student loan system that will be implemented over the next several years.

Speakers will be breaking down new policies, including the end of the SAVE Plan, new borrowing limits, changes to repayment and forgiveness options, and what borrowers can do now to prepare.

Whether you are in repayment, in school, or in default – this webinar is for you.
