BP Fossella, District Attorney McMahon to Announce Justice Obtained For Staten Island Family Victimized by License Plate Fraud
Editor’s note: We recently covered the use of techniques criminal offenders use to cause accidents without legal consequence, which then leads to rising insurance costs for motorists in NYC.
Staten Island, NY – Borough President Vito Fossella and District Attorney Michael McMahon held a press conference at Borough Hall on Friday, November 14th at 12:00 PM to announce that he had helped a Staten Island resident secure justice for her family regarding a significant act of license plate fraud.

Janine Mule is a Staten Islander whose father recently became the victim of fraud. A motorist used duct tape to replicate her father’s previous license plate, and over the course of several months, thousands of dollars of unpaid tolls had been accrued and wrongly accredited. After exhausting her options, Ms. Mule reached out to the Borough President’s office and the District Attorney seeking a resolution.
Working together with the New York City Police Department, the Borough President and District Attorney were able to help secure a reimbursement for Ms. Mule and her family, as well as justice through the arrest of the perpetrator.
At this press conference, the Borough President and District Attorney announced these results, and issued a warning to those who may partake in toll evasion and hurt unaware and innocent people.
