More details about this event were requested from the organizers, and all are welcome to participate,
Also, can you please clarify the address for the place you mentioned (Gansevoort brings up several different locations) and how people will find you and if there is registration required?
The event is happening this Sunday, August 30, at Gansevoort Peninsula Athletic Field in Hudson River Park, in the Meatpacking District. The field is by Gansevoort Street and West Street, near the Whitney Museum/Little Island area. A commonly listed address is 427-429 Gansevoort St, New York, NY 10014.
People can find us directly on the turf field. We’ll have JOGA NYC pinnies, balls, signage/gear, and I’ll be there helping run check-in and organize the groups. The event is completely free, but registration/check-in is required so we can manage numbers, teams, and safety.
The flyer is below, and here is more info about the event and what you can expect:
This weekend, JOGA NYC is hosting its final free summer soccer session at Gansevoort, bringing together 100+ players and families for a completely free community event. JOGA NYC is a grassroots soccer initiative I founded to make organized soccer opportunities, player resources, equipment support, and community programming more accessible across New York City.
The event is fully permitted and free to attend. I personally cover the permits, balls, pinnies, equipment, photography, organization, and other costs so players can participate without barriers. Beyond the sessions, JOGA NYC also provides education and recruiting resources, club connections, gear donations, and guidance for players looking for opportunities in the city.
100+ players, coaches and families, free soccer programming, awards and giveaways, food afterward, and a community-driven model built around keeping the game accessible in NYC. We will also likely have current NYCFC professional players and former professional players there, giving the kids a chance to spend time with them, ask questions, and connect directly with people who have played at the highest levels.
Between the scale of the turnout, the giveaways, the free access, the pro-player presence, and the community focus, there really is nothing else like this happening in the city right now.

JOGA NYC is a grassroots soccer initiative I founded to make soccer opportunities more accessible, organized, and connected across New York City. What started as free community sessions has grown into a broader platform for players, families, coaches, clubs, community organizations, and local partners.
JOGA hosts free soccer sessions and community events, organizes competitive games, supports players with equipment and giveaways, connects players with clubs and coaches, and provides guidance for families trying to understand the NYC soccer landscape.
One of JOGA’s key resources is the JOGA NYC Soccer Guide, which helps players and parents navigate the city’s soccer ecosystem. The guide breaks down local clubs, training options, pickup opportunities, leagues, recruiting pathways, college exposure, trial opportunities, and general advice for players trying to find the right next step. The goal is to make information that is usually scattered, confusing, or network-dependent easier for everyone to access.
JOGA also supports the community beyond its own sessions. We provide balls, pinnies, uniforms, equipment, organization, and soccer support for community events, local partners, and government/community organizations that want to create positive programming for kids and families. We also work on equipment donations and try to make sure players who need support can still participate, train, and feel included.
Everything JOGA does is free. The sessions are free, the resources are free, the guide is free, and the community support is free. I personally cover the permits, equipment, organization, photography, awards, giveaways, and other costs because I believe NYC has too much soccer talent for opportunity to depend only on money, connections, or access to the right club network

Beyond the guide and community support, JOGA helps players directly by sharing opportunities, making introductions, organizing evaluation-style games, and creating environments where talented players from different boroughs and backgrounds can be seen outside of their usual club setting.
Founder background:
Davide Clarkson is the 25-year-old founder of JOGA NYC, a New York native, Harvard graduate, former Granada CF player, lifelong soccer player, and NYC community builder. He started JOGA because he saw how much talent exists across the city, but also how difficult it can be for players and families to find reliable information, affordable opportunities, and the right connections.
Through JOGA NYC, Davide personally organizes and funds free sessions, permits, equipment, photography, player awards, recruiting resources, equipment donations, and community events. He also provides equipment and support for outside community and government-led events, helping bring soccer programming to more kids and families across the city.
His goal is to make the city’s soccer scene more accessible, connected, and opportunity-driven for young players, while building a platform that brings together players, families, clubs, coaches, local businesses, and community organizations.

The goal is to give young NYC players a free, high-quality soccer experience and direct access to people and opportunities they normally may not have.
