Tonight: Forum Discussion For Monkeypox Outbreak, Effects On LGBTSTGNC POC Community, Presented By Audre Lorde Project
We hope this email finds you transitioning between seasons with ease. As the new fiscal year at ALP begins, and the people’s movements continue their struggles towards liberation, we wanted to invite you to a forum to discuss and process the emerging monkeypox crisis with LGBTSTGNC POC community.
Join us on September 27 at 6:30 PM for our Membership/3rd Space Meeting: Monkeypox Forum.
This meeting is open to all LGBTSTGNC POC as a space to process the emerging monkeypox crisis and how it is impacting our community.
We will be discussing the framing of monkeypox as a “gay disease” and the challenges our communities have faced in accessing everything from reliable medical information to testing to vaccination.
Community members will have an opportunity to talk about what safety looks like in this political landscape, and what folks are needing as this outbreak continues to unfold.
We will also have a health educator present who can answer clinical questions about monkeypox, and provide information for how to sign up for the vaccine for those interested.
Food vouchers will be provided for this virtual meeting. We will also have a 3rd Space healer present to lead us in grounding as we navigate this heavy topic. Registration is required at www.alp.org/monkeypox.
Please note: this meeting is open to queer and/or trans people of color only. Reach out email [email protected] with any questions or offerings — we are so excited to hold a space that is by community, for community as we navigate even more uncertain times.
In struggle and salud,
Anqa (they/them)
Membership Coordinator
