Hello Staten Islanders!  Still in need of a perfect children’s gift for the holidays?

Or just want to clear out your kids’ closets to make space for new stuff? Please join us in attending our Toy and Children’s Items Stop ‘N’ Swap®, a one-day, free community reuse event organized by local non-profit GrowNYC. This holiday season, take a break from shopping, support a cleaner future, and join the ever-growing reuse community!

You are invited to bring clean, portable, reusable items for kids ages 0-12 to share with those who can use them. No one is required to bring something to take something — you can simply show up with a bag and see what’s free for the taking. Children’s books, toys, and clothing are just some of the offerings. Adult items, housewares, furniture, and other large items are not accepted at the swap. Anything leftover at the end of the day is donated or recycled.

The event will take place on Wednesday, December 14th at Clay Pit Ponds Nature Interpretive Center from 12pm-3pm, with donations accepted from 11am-2pm. The address for this event is 2351 Veterans Rd W, Staten Island, NY 10309. This is an indoor event and masks are required for all attendees. Please see attached event flyer for additional information.

There are four main pillars of programming.

Food Access and Agriculture – Greenmarket farmers markets, Farmstands, Fresh Food Box pick-ups, and Greenmarket Co. ensures that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, healthiest local food.

Zero Waste – Providing resources like textile and food scrap collection, Stop ‘N’ Swaps, and free training at schools to make waste reduction easy for all.

Green Space – Building and supporting community and school gardens, providing construction expertise, technical assistance, green infrastructure support, school garden grants, and more.

Education – Fostering future environmental stewards by providing 70,000 children each year with programs that provide meaningful interactions with the natural environment.

We hope to see you at a future GrowNYC event near you!
