Interview With Reynaldo Piniella, Creator Of Environmental Justice Card Game For New Victory LabWorks At Staten Island’s Snug Harbor Cultural Center

Reynaldo Piniella speaks with the Staten Islander News Organization about his Environmental Justice Card Game, activism, building community, and other important topics.

 

His bio states: “Reynaldo Piniella is an actor, writer, activist and educator from East New York, Brooklyn. In 2021, he was in the acting company of two Broadway shows at the same time – Thoughts of a” Colored Man and Trouble in Mind. His Off-Broadway acting credits include The Death of the Last Black Man…, Venus (Signature), The Skin of Our Teeth (TFANA), Lockdown (Rattlestick), The Space Between the Letters (The Public/UTR), and The Best of Theatreworks (Working Theater). Reynaldo is the inaugural recipient of the All Stars Project’s Fellowship for Young Artists of Color, a FREEdom Fellow at the Weeksville Heritage Center and has received residencies from the Public Theater’s Shakespeare Initiative and HB Studio.

Snug Harbor recently partnered with New Victory LabWorks to present four new works-in-progress for youth in the Staten Island area. The events are appropriate for all age groups, and the purpose of the program is to gather feedback from participants in order to help the artists develop and realize the projects.

    Snug Harbor is so amazing. I mean really. Where else do you find a cultural center like that? I am so grateful that they exist. It really makes SI an amazing place year-round.

    When will this be going on until? Is it only for kids?

    Amazing interview. I also grew up on Pokemon. Amazing how Mr. Piniella has brought his love for Pokemon to the real world to make real change.

    I am inspired to go out there and help promote environmental justice on the island!
