Summary: Finissage and Film Screening: Calling Hedy Lamarr | May 10 7 pm

Austrian Cultural Forum New York (ACFNY) and curator Dr. Danielle Spera held the Finissage of our exhibition “Hedy Lamarr: Actress. Inventor. Viennese.”.   The event occurred on May 10th at 7pm.  The event included a screening of the documentary film “Calling Hedy Lamarr” by Georg Misch. The film was shown in English.

After two months at the ACFNY, our exploration of Hedy Lamarr’s life and work is coming to an end. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the numerous visitors and are especially pleased that the media took great interest as well.

About the Exhibition

“Hedy Lamarr: Actress. Inventor. Viennese.” presents the famous Austro-American actress by specifically stressing her groundbreaking achievements as an inventor. It was only years after her famous screen career had ended that Lamarr achieved recognition for pioneering the technology that would become the basis for today’s WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth communication systems.

About the Film “Calling Hedy Lamarr”

A film about the world’s most beautiful woman, a Hollywood goddess and her forgotten breakthrough invention that revolutionized mobile phones. A film about a mother, an emancipated woman and a failed life. The Hedy Lamarr Story tells her tale as a fusion of modern myths, constructed legends and true stories.
