Angora is Torture!’ PETA Supporter Leads Pro-Vegan Disruption of Michael Kors Event

New York — In front of celebrities including Olivia Wilde, Jesse Williams, and Nina Garcia, a PETA supporter brandishing a sign proclaiming, “Michael Kors: Angora is Torture!” confronted the designer at a post-runway show VIP meet and greet and urged him to end his use of both angora and cashmere—hair torn from tied-up, crying bunnies and goats, respectively

“Every archaic angora wool or cashmere item represents the pain and suffering of rabbits and goats whose hair was viciously ripped out while they were still alive,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA made a surprise appearance at a celeb-filled gathering with Michael Kors on behalf of animals who suffer for clothing and the many conscientious consumers who want to see designers showcase sustainable vegan fabrics only.”
PETA Asia investigation into the angora industry found that rabbits’ feet are tightly bound and they’re restrained as workers rip out their fur for angora. They end up wounded by the sharp cutting tools as they scream in pain and struggle desperately to escape. They endure this torture every three months—and many suffer heart attacks from the stress. One farmer said that 60% of the rabbits die after only one to two years.

Another PETA Asia investigation reveals goats screaming in pain and terror as workers tie their legs together, pin them down, and tear out their hair with sharp metal combs, sometimes leaving them with bleeding wounds. Once the goats no longer produce enough hair to be profitable, workers bash them over the head with a hammer and slit their throats. At one slaughterhouse, goats were seen moving for four agonizing minutes as they slowly bled to death.

‘Skinned’ PETA Member Leads Anti-Leather Disruption of Coach Fashion Show

New York — A PETA supporter—nude except for bodypaint revealing realistic “flesh,” “tendons,” and “muscle” and a message on her chest reading, “Coach: Leather Kills”—has stormed the Coach fashion show at the New York Public Library Main Branch alongside two other animal advocates to slam the brand for its cruelty to cows and its reliance on environmentally destructive leather products.

“Today’s conscientious consumers know that the future of fashion lies in innovative vegan materials, not in cows’ sliced-off skin,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is shaking up Coach’s catwalk to drive home the message that leather belongs in the annals of history, not in designers’ current collections.”
At slaughterhouses, cows killed for leather may be skinned and dismembered while they’re still conscious—after they endure castration, tail-docking, and dehorning, without any painkillers, on farms. A PETA exposé of the world’s largest leather processor—which has supplied Coach—showed that workers brand calves on the face, beat cows and bulls, and shock them with electric prods.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, and PETA entities have more than 9 million members and supporters globally. PETA opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview, and focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment business. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of rodents, birds, and other animals who are often considered “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. PETA works through public education, investigative newsgathering and reporting, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

I’d love to take one of these snowflakes deer hunting with me.

I don’t know if they’re stupid enough to decide go with you being protesters and all.But if one did I’m sure they would use the chance to try and win you over. What are your views, anyway? Without putting other people down? Why would a hunting trip change their minds?

I’m a vegan. I’m not a snowflake. I used to work in a butcher shop. No lie. I’d have to go to the packing house up by Morningstar Road. Entire carcasses hanging. That wasn’t the slaughterhouse, just a spot they brought whole animal;s to be cut up.

I’ve already had someone learn I am a vegan and cut up a deer in front of me, thinking I’d pass out or something. hahah Didn’t exactly go that way. He ended up feeling dumb. Probably serves him right, too.

You want to eat meat? Go ahead. You want to call people who eat no meat snowflakes? It’s still a free country. Go for it! But truthfully, know your memes are just that and do not reflect real life for all people who eat a plant-based diet.

I am vegetarian. If you hunt to feed your children, you’re okay by me. But if you’re a privileged man and I don’t care if you’re white or black or Italian or Chinese, you should leave the deer alone. They didn’t hurt you.

I tend to respect these girls. They stand up for what they believe. Not my bag but I respect that.

    • Avatar Frank Donnelley says:

I am vegan in honor of Saint Francis, my namesake. Eating meat is not necessary.

But of course, do what you will. I like that we can discuss it, though.

  • Avatar Proud Meateater says:

People have used animal skins since the beginning of time. Cave man days. This is America so you do as you will but why shove your personal views on other people who think different then you? I’m fine if you don’t eat meat or wear furs or wear leather sneakers (doubtful) And I know most vegetarians sneak and eat meat to fulfill their need. Just in private. I’ve known a few vegetarians and I was shocked at what they ordered in a restaurant with me.

  • Avatar Facts Save Lives says:

It’s actually better to not eat meat.

  • Avatar Junebug says:

Take me! Take me! I would love to teach you about why life matters.
