Unveiling Of New Public Artwork At East Side Coastal Resiliency Project By NYC Artist In Residence Carlos Irijalba

NEW PUBLIC ARTWORK BY NYC PUBLIC ARTIST IN RESIDENCE CARLOS IRIJALBA TO BE UNVEILED AT EAST SIDE COASTAL RESILIENCY PROJECT IN MANHATTAN 

 

New York – On Wednesday, October 4 at 2:30PM, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) and Department of Design and Construction (DDC) joined  DDC’s Public Artist in Residence (PAIR) Carlos Irijalba to unveil a new, three-part sculptural artwork that will be installed at the East Side Coastal Resiliency Project in Manhattan through November 15, 2023. 

Through his work with PAIR – a program of DCLA – Irijalba has been working with DDC on the artwork entitled Joined an Avalanche, Never to be Alone Again, which examines how humans have accelerated a global environmental crisis, collapsing starkly different time scales projecting an imminent future while unearthing centuries of geological cycles
