DA McMahon Hosts National Rx Take Back Day, Narcan Training

District Attorney Michael E. McMahon to Encourage Staten Islanders to Participate in “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day”

Alongside NYPD, FDNY EMS, Staten Island Borough President’s Office & Local Treatment, Recovery, and Community Health Organizations

On Friday, October 27th, 2023 at 12:00 PM, District Attorney Michael E. McMahon held a press conference at Super Health Pharmacy located at 6390 Amboy Road, Staten Island, New York 10309 alongside leaders from the NYPD, FDNY EMS, the Staten Island Borough President’s Office, local treatment, recovery, community health organizations, and parents who have lost loved ones to the scourge of drug addiction ahead of Saturday’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

District Attorney McMahon provided Staten Islanders with information regarding safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly means of disposing unwanted or expired prescription drugs through the community “MedSafe” program run by his office.

Further, District Attorney McMahon will provide an overview of the drug and overdose crisis on Staten Island, and invite local partners to highlight efforts underway to help those struggling with the scourge of addiction and drug abuse.

Narcan trainings were also held at the Staten Island Ferry the same day.
