Audre Lorde Project Announces Important Dates In November

Share

My name is Oscar Rodriguez Cruz (they/he)–I’m the new Grassroots Fundraising Coordinator at Audre Lorde Project! I’m excited to follow this work after Danya, the former coordinator, who set me up for success in this role. I want to give a huge thank you to Danya, past and current staff who had a hand in fundraising at ALP.

As little about myself, I’ve been doing grassroots and institutional fundraising for almost 3 years now. I started as a fellow and then a development associate at a Black community organizing center based in Baltimore City called Organizing Black. There I learned how essential grassroots fundraising is to our organizing, standing in our values and broader liberation movement work.

In this role, I’m responsible for processing every gift that comes through to ALP and increasing our individual and major donations so we can be more reliant and accountable to our community. This includes everyone.

The following are several important dates to remember in November:

  • Giving TuesdayOn November 28th, we are participating in Giving Tuesday, typically a national day of action where people around the world join a movement of giving to the organizations important to them. At ALP, we see Giving Tuesday as a time where folks can commit to supporting the people and organizations that fight for our collective liberation. Make sure to support us on November 28th, and today by donating to ALP!

  • POZitively Resilient!: Join us this winter for POZitively Resilient! POZ is an opportunity to gather, stand in solidarity with and celebrate our POZ community members. You’ll have a chance to honor artists and organizers living with HIV & AIDS, while building resiliency and connection.

  • Reproductive Justice History Cypher: Join ALP members and community this winter for a People’s History of Reproductive Justice! Through centering of the experiences of transcestors before us, we will discuss the complex connections between identity, family-making and progress for Trans* and Gender Nonconforming people of color.
  • ALP’s office will be closed from November 17th – November 19th for strategic planning.
