Staten Islanders Will Be Disproportionately Affected By Congestion Pricing – Public Comment Period Now Open: BP Fossella

A Statement from Borough President Vito Fossella on Start of the Public Comment Period for Congestion Pricing Program

We would like to invite Staten Islanders, especially those who would be adversely affected by the congestion pricing program, to submit their concerns to the MTA’s public comment system. Staten Islanders can submit comments through March 11th, 2024.

We all know that Staten Island will be disproportionately affected by congestion pricing.

We know that our traffic will get worse, our air quality will get worse, and residents who must commute by car will pay an exorbitant added tax to travel within their own city.

And, to top it all off, Staten Islanders will see no mitigation measures and little to no benefit in return for this toll.

We encourage Staten Islanders to use the public comment system to let the MTA know that their plan will hurt us by way of our finances, our health and our quality of life.

BP Fosella — We appreciate that you spend your time in office helping us the people of the island with our important issues. What a refreshing change. Right now we are lucky on SI to have a few good people in office.
