Attention All Staten Islanders! NYC DOT Seeking Input About Transportation Priorities In Your Community – Submit Your Comments Here
The NYC Department of Transportation is hosting a meeting to discuss the priorities of the community regarding transportation. This is a Community Forum, and we will be bringing the ideas of members of the Staten Island community before the DOT.
Please share below any items you would like to contribute to the forum. This will be occurring on January 24, 2024 (date to be confirmed), so all comments must be received by then.
Examples of areas that the DOT can change or make improvements to include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Bike Lane construction
-Traffic “calming” methods including pedestrian islands and other techniques
-Bus service suggestions, which could include ideas for new stops, schedule changes to improve the reliability of using the bus, and bus lane construction
-Road changes or additions, including lane widening, sidewalk construction, pedestrian barriers, etc
-Street redesigns to improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety, or both
This is by no means a complete list, and all suggestions related to transportation are welcome. As long as it relates to transportation, whether pedestrian, bus, train, or vehicle, it can be discussed at the forum.
We look forward to reviewing your contributions.

Why bother? They surely aren’t going to do anything. transportation deserts all over the island, not just up here in the city side but even when I travel down South to the land of the *******.

My answer? See a doctor. You’re reading into things. Captchas are random and you are not balanced.
I love your username! haha Made me actually laugh.
Personally, I love biscuits, buttermilk with that gravy sauce are my favorite. I don’t know where you can get that around here. I’ve had it in Florida at my auntie who passed a while back and at restaurants and hotels in Virginia and Florida.
To be totally serious for a second: If anyone knows what I’m talking about, do inform me of anyplace that serves up this Southern delicacy. It’s like chipped ham or something in a thick gray sauce. Probably fattening, yes, haha but well worth it.
As for transportation: Buses are too slow and get stuck in traffic.
Dedicated bus lanes are a joke.
Dedicated bike lanes are an even bigger joke.
A sixty square mile island and a bike isn’t getting you far.
My solution: Raise the speed limits and make improvements on major roads.
Richmond Ave. should be 45 mph. Hylan should be 45. At least.
Service roads at 45. Highways at 60.
Light-rail to NJ over Bayonne Bridge and a St. George to Arlington light-rail service.
North Shore Rail and walkway next to it. Not lightrail but real trains that go fast.
This already passed.
