SENATOR LANZA & THE NY CONFERENCE OF ITALIAN-AMERICAN STATE LEGISLATORS ACCEPTING SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
Editor’s note: From the website of the NY Conference of Italian-American State Legislators, “The Italian American Conference celebrated its annual awards luncheon and Festa Italiana celebration on Monday, May 22, 2023.
”Special thanks to Governor Hochul for hosting the awards luncheon at the Mansion. A great time was had by all as we celebrated this year’s scholarship recipients, legislative honorees, and very special guest, Lidia Bastianich. Our annual scholarships would not be possible without the tremendous generosity and support of our fellow Italian-American partners and sponsors. All of your donations are truly appreciated.”
Last year’s winners were Emilia Schneiderman, Kailey Simons, Jack DeRose, and Caden DellaPenta
Senator Andrew Lanza & The New York Conference of Italian-American State Legislators are now accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded at the Annual Italian-American Day in Albany.
There will be two academic and two athletic scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each. Scholarships are available to residents of the 24th Senate District who are current college students or high school seniors entering college.
Students who apply for the Academic Scholarship must have a grade point average of 85 or higher, be active in community service and extracurricular activities, and demonstrate financial need. In addition to these qualifications, students applying for an athletic scholarship must also be involved in an organized sport(s). Students can apply for both opportunities.
The Conference of Italian-American State Legislators is a bipartisan organization of New York State Senate and Assembly members who are actively involved in promoting and celebrating the State’s Italian-American community. The mission of the Conference is to work hard to elevate and highlight Italian-American contributions to the State of New York and beyond, in all aspects of society, including literature, the arts, architecture, and politics.
Applicants will be judged based upon grade point average, good conduct, an interest in pursuing a higher education degree, involvement in community service and extracurricular activities, as well as individual financial need.
Scholarship recipients will be announced in April, and the winners will be honored at a ceremony in Albany.
Applicants need not be of Italian-American heritage to apply.
Applications must be submitted by the deadline:
