Similarly, the baseball and softball fields at New Dorp High School are being renovated with funding secured by BP Fossella and CM Carr.

Staten Island, NY – Borough President Vito Fossella will announce a capital project to reconstruct Field 1 at Clove Lakes Park at a press conference there on Friday.

The ballfields at Clove Lakes Park are a community staple, and are frequented by tens of thousands of parkgoers and young people alike to play sports and enjoy the atmosphere.

However, the grounds are notorious for frequent flooding during rainstorms, and  they become unusable for extended periods of time.

The Borough President’s $5 million allocation will support a project to reconstruct Field 1, the first renovation of the ballfield in well over thirty years. The reconstruction will include drainage to mitigate flooding and updates to the field, bleachers, and fencing.
