College Of Staten Island’s STEM Lab To receive Funding From Rep. Malliotakis In Federal Budget

Malliotakis Secures $2.9 Million for College of Staten Island STEM Lab

According to CSI Today’s report on this event, CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez said:

“The $2.9 million secured by Congresswoman Malliotakis for the College of Staten Island will provide a significant boost for CUNY’s efforts to elevate STEM education and expand career opportunities in those fields for our students.  This funding will allow CSI to make major upgrades and construct labs in a wide range of STEM disciplines, which will benefit students and Staten Island and advance CUNY’s commitment to lifting all of New York and its economy. We thank Congresswoman Malliotakis for her support of CUNY and public higher education.”

• Upgrades to CSI’s Nursing Simulation Lab, including interdisciplinary patient, birthing, and neonatal simulator packages, and new virtual bedside monitors;
• Extensive upgrades to CSI’s Biology Labs, including both an anatomage interactive anatomy display table and virtual reality anatomy visualizations systems to go with muscular and skeletal models, compound microscopes, and various biorama;
• The replacement of 29 fume hoods at CSI’s Chemistry Labs, the addition of two liquid chromatograph and infrared spectroscopy machines, and 54 new computers;
• Advancements to CSI’s Engineering Labs including adding a hydrogen fuel cell trainer, solar systems trainer, geothermal trainer, and new construction of a mobile robotics training system;
• New equipment at CSI’s Physics Labs to replace telescopes and other periphery;
• The creation of a state-of-the-art Math instruction lab for 30 students including flip tops, screens, and work stations.
