In the quiet aftermath of an unimaginable tragedy, our community grapples with the profound loss of Police Officer Jonathan Diller, a devoted servant to the public and a guardian of our city’s peace and security. Officer Diller’s life was taken far too soon, his promise extinguished by an act of senseless violence that has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him and those who knew of him. As we come together to mourn, we also come together to honor his memory, his bravery, and his unwavering commitment to the safety of our citizens.

Officer Diller, a three-year veteran of our police force, dedicated his career to making our streets safer, to protecting those in danger, and to serving as a beacon of hope and justice in our community. He leaves behind a grieving family, including a wife and a young son, who today are reminded of the great cost of our safety. To them, we extend our deepest sympathies, our unwavering support, and our gratitude for Officer Diller’s sacrifice.

Let us remember Officer Diller not only for how he died, but for how he lived: with courage, with dignity, and with a deep and abiding love for his community. In his memory, let us pledge to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of those who serve, to support their families, and to strive for a community where such sacrifices are no longer required. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his legacy inspire us all to build a better, safer world.

    This is crazy.

If criminals are going to go this far, we have got a real situation.

We have a culture of lawlessness.

Don’t blame any single person. This is just the time and place and story-line. If anything blame the media and I don’t include this paper or the SI Live because both seem fair and balanced though many news companies claim this.

    This didnt need to happen.

What is progressive about making the city unsafe for everyone?

I am deeply disappointed the direction everything has taken.

We need the city’s elected officials to stand together on both sides of the aisle and figure out a way to make us safer.

One extreme is not any better than the other. No one wants to live in terror like countries with authoritarian plicing, but neither do we want to have innocent weomen smashed inm the jaw, polcie officer killed senselessly over literally NOTHING…

This is the vhoice we take.
