BP Fossella, Port Richmond North Shore Alliance, Hamilton Avenue Residents to Address Quality of Life Issues Surrounding Several In-Need Service Centers

Editor’s note: Staten Islander News recently reported on concerns raised by BP Fossella about a migrant shelter at Faith United Methodist Church on Staten Island, including issues related to public safety.

The drop-in center is run by Project Hospitality, and is described by them as follows: “Organization providing homeless adults (ages 21+) with a drop-in center including psychiatric care, primary health care, and referrals to detox, rehab, and housing, food, and showers.”

Staten Island, NY – Borough President Vito Fossella, members of Port Richmond North Shore Alliance, and residents of the 36 Hamilton Avenue apartments will address the growing quality of life concerns surrounding several facilities serving those in need on the North Shore. This took place at a press conference at the corner of Castleton Avenue and Park Avenue on Monday, August 19th at 12:00 PM.

The press conference comes in response to community concerns regarding the housing complex at Castleton Avenue and Port Richmond Avenue, and a “drop-in” center in St. George. Since the beginning of this year, over 243 9-11 calls and over 18 arrests have taken place at the complex located at 1544 Castleton Avenue. In addition, St. George residents have reported numerous concerns about loitering, harassment, and other disorderly conduct at the drop-in facility at 150 Richmond Terrace.

The Borough President and his community partners raised quality of life concerns regarding these locations, and call for action to improve conditions and address the growing disorderly environment in these North Shore communities.

    Get these young men jobs.

The boro pres can’t make the economy change. Our presidents did this over the years.

Thank you BP Fossella for caring about your island. At least he can help at the local level.

And Trump can’t fix it. But I’m voting for him anyway.
