STATEN ISLAND, NY –  Senator Scarcella-Spanton announces that she gave $10,000 in funding to help create a reading garden for students at PS 78.

“PS 78 fosters strong ties and provides a supportive environment for students. I am proud to bring this resource to the school for the community. As a mom of two kids who go to public school, and as the daughter of two teachers, I truly understand the role education plays in guiding our future leaders. I cannot wait to see the positive impact the reading garden will have on students, ” said Senator Scarcella-Spanton.

“With the funding from Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and collaboration between Maker Space, Projectivity, and NYC Thrive, this project was designed to inspire a love for reading and learning in our students. This garden will not only serve as a beautiful outdoor space for our children to explore literature but also foster a sense of community and connection with nature. We envision a place where students can gather, read, and share stories, all while surrounded by the beauty of our environment” said Jodi Contento, P.S.78 Principal said.
