Recognizing Rich History Of Irish In America: Asm. Fall
Editor’s note: Not many Islanders, or Irish people in America overall, know the crucial role that the soldiers brought over from Ireland after the Great Famine played in helping the North to win the Civil War, setting the state for the continuation of the American Dream, the American Experience, and the culture we all share. We also covered last year’s first ever inclusive St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Staten Island.
The following is from Asm. Fall’s newsletter in advance of St. Patrick’s Day weekend:
As we head into a weekend filled with St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, I want to take a moment to recognize the rich history and contributions of the Irish community in our district and across the State of New York.
For generations, Irish Americans have played an essential role in shaping our communities through public service, labor, business, and civic leadership. Their commitment to faith, family, and hard work has left a lasting impact that continues to inspire us all.
I’m especially looking forward to marching in the Staten Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade tomorrow, celebrating this tradition with neighbors and honoring the legacy of Irish Americans in our community.
As we come together to celebrate, I encourage everyone to enjoy the festivities safely and responsibly with family and friends. Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with joy, community, and Irish spirit!

Honored to march in the 61st Annual Staten Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade—a celebration of Irish heritage, community, and now, inclusivity for all. Grateful to see so many familiar faces and share in a tradition that means so much to our borough. ☘️🇮🇪
