Editor’s note: We previously covered ShopRite’s Help Bag Hunger Day in 2024, where the Salvation Army’s Lt. Esther Mobley won the contest to gather the a basket of items with the highest value to be donated to local food banks and food pantries.
The below slideshow of the event features photographs from Sean Fitzpatrick and from ShopRite for this Partners In Caring event.
Following is a statement from ShopRite/Mannix Family Supermarkets about the event:
“The ShopRite Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest is a beloved tradition for my family and team members, who are passionate about fighting hunger in the community,” said Tim Mannix, owner and operator of the ShopRites of Forest & Richmond, Hylan Plaza and Veterans Road. “I would like to thank our customers for their generous donations, which helped us raise over $35,000 for local food banks and community organizations — including New Direction Services, Reach Out and Touch, and South Shore Pantry.”
This year, the ShopRite’s of Forest & Richmond, Hylan Plaza, and Veterans Road, owned and operated by the Mannix Family, raised nearly $35,000 for the annual ShopRite Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest. The funds, collected during Hunger Action Month, will support local food banks and organizations dedicated to combating hunger in Staten Island.
The community will gather for a special unveiling event on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at three Staten Island ShopRite locations, where the stores will reveal special edition Cheerios boxes featuring local ShopRite associates. The stores will also make special donations to New Direction Services, Reach Out and Touch, and South Shore Pantry.
