OPINION: What We Know About President Donald Trump
OPINION: What We Know About President Donald Trump
I voted for President Trump. Not for any of his cabinet members of advisors or aristocrats or anyone else.
Just the President and the VP combo. That’s it.
And, NO, I do not “identify” as a MAGA.
I’m just a working man who has a brain.
Yeah, I’ve been to college and graduated.
I think for myself.
I’ve never voted for a Democrat.
I just wanted to say, here is what we know about President Trump.
1. He Is Good At Firing People
I have to admit, I don’t really watch TV and I’ve never watched The Apprentice. Even so, I would have to be living under a rock to not know what the show was all about.
President Trump decides who gets axed and who stays, and the winner, is the individual remaining after the “cuts.”
So, what I take from this, is the President is going to be just fine with firing anyone in his cabinet that is failing and can’t make the grade.
He has the skill to discern when people are reaching goals, and when they’re falling short.
Too bad President Trump couldn’t have overseen the recent mass firings. He’d have done a way better job.
Just think of what President Trump might have accomplished had he not been surrounded by people who kept him from really getting things done last term.
Last term it was definitely thinking he could make a deal with the Swamp Creatures (You can’t) and the President had too many of them around him. Then, on top of that the Democrats kept trying to keep impeaching him.
There wasn’t enough firing going on. I hope we see the men unfit for their jobs be fired.
This time around, I’m worried that the President found competent and loyal people, but too many might suffer from having a big ego and can’t seem to remember that Trump and JD are the big bosses.
I’m afraid these smart idiots might take the President’s intelligent plans and turn them upside down due to arrogance. Will Trump be playing babysitter and cleaning up his cabinet members messes? They’re just giving him headaches so far a lot of people are saying.
Are these guys just mama’s boys? Never set foot in the real world like Trump has since he was a kid. His father put him to work.
I feel the President has too much trust in them, in terms of their ideas. He’s a billionaire, too! They have nothing on him.
Some were just in the right place at the right time. Donald Trump MADE the place and time!
My hope is that he doesn’t get swamped, this time by loyal people who couldn’t get the big picture.
Or, they just wanted to somehow add their own interpretation of Trump’s ideas.
He can always fire them. That’s one of his talents.
They should remember that before acting or speaking.
2. President Trump Is About Wheeling And Dealing
Are you shocked that this made the list? President Trump turned his seed money his family gave him for helping run the family real estate business into a multi-billion dollar empire.
Without his influence, perhaps New York’s 1990s Renaissance wouldn’t have happened.
President Trump has lived a life as a businessman, at the highest level. You can’t stay at the top without knowing how to get the best price.
Negotiating with people is a big part of what his life has been.
He’s from Queens, and like all of us New Yorkers, he wants to always get a deal.
And like the rest of us he has sense. He’s lived in the real world dealing with politicians, unions, workers of all types, government agencies, and everything else involved in all the businesses that the Trump brand has been involved in.
So he is going to renegotiate everything. I hope we get some better terms.
3. President Trump Thinks Big
This one is obvious. I think it’s just the man’s nature, looking back on interviews he’s done throughout the decades. He’s a true visionary.
Many others seem to think big, but they are really just dabbling in dumb fantasy.
President Trump is a realist. He’s practical. That contrasts sharply with many, many other smart and successful men in Washington. His ideas aren’t ridiculous.
He has a vision.
We’ll see whose vision wins out. Some say the Evangelicals are a bit much. Almost radical. Trump is the voice of reason. A sane Protestant.
I see the Republicans have a few different ideas now. It’s breaking up into different visions of the future. Left and Right already will never see eye to eye. Republicans shouldn’t split further. But with drastically different ideas, what is the solution?
President Trump isn’t going to slowly chip away, he’s going to melt the ice all at once.
Look at his past projects. Look at what he had to say. He wants America to be the best its ever been.
I almost feel bad he went into politics. He might have made NYCs be the site of the new world’s tallest skyscraper, and who knows what else.
4. President Trump Is Presidential
Donald J. Trump loves elegance and has fine taste. In the ’80s we saw him on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous with Robyn Leach. And, he always looks Presidential and acts appropriately.
Just look at his suits. Let’s be real though, it’s also how he carries himself and conducts himself.
I am not going to say that Biden wasn’t presidential or any of our presidents haven’t been. We’re lucky that they all have been. I may hate their ideas but I can respect them.
But really, though, who else has Trump’s style?
I like that he’s reserved and has a sense of humor. People can learn a lot from watching how he acts.
5. President Trump Takes Risks On Ideas
Remember the Trump Board Game? Revitalizing NYC? The Skating Rink?
Running for President with no background in politics?
Donald Trump has done it all. He is not afraid to take risks on ideas.
And, as Sasha Barron Cohen showed in a Borat skit, Trump will listen to anyone’s ideas and is willing to partner with smart people with good ideas that can turn a profit.
Did everything always work out?
How could that happen? Most people are lucky if they can get even one idea off the ground.

I’ve actually seen that episode of Lifestyles way back when.
I remember a lot of actual gold everywhere on Trump’s yacht. You could tell it’s the real thing because it has just that right color. Fake gold never has the right color if you take a good look and pay attention.
Then there’s pink gold, white gold, 18K gold, 20K gold…and more. You have to know your stuff.
But either way if it’s not real it will never have the right color.
Oh, Paulie, thank you so much for the invaluable jewelry lesson.
I suppose when you’re not rebuilding motors you’re out exchanging the cash you get for your work for jewelry, then exchange, in a manner of speaking, the jewelry you get for…ahem….ummm….
yeah.
(Shame on you! What are you thinking? Paulie’s exchanging the jewelry for top-of-the-line racing parts! His distributor is a real ladies’ man and he could always use more jewelry for the ladies. Or something like that.)
Sound plan. I approve.
Otherwise, I can’t imagine you of all people knowing about a topic like that.
I was worried you might pop in next time telling us about cleaning chandeliers or sewing a summer dress.
I think I understand now.
I hope.
Crank, I bet you haven’t bought your wife any jewelry since your wedding ring because it’s not sensible spending and doesn’t yield interest. 😐
I think Paul is right on bc you don’t want to get robbed when you do choose to buy a lady a present and it’s jewelry. It’s good knowing all this stuff.
You should also know about gold-plating, guys and gals. It’s a big deal.
And if you are getting your little nephew a nice gold bullion for his Communion Cross be sure it isn’t fake.
Don’t buy unless from a reputable source. Fakes are more common than real outside of those markets.
Hope that helps some hapless lad who is plunking down money for jewelry for his girlfriend.
Also, you can’t by love, but girls will accept gifts.
That’s my two cents.
“I was worried you might pop in next time telling us about cleaning chandeliers or sewing a summer dress.”
I clean the chandeliers! What am I going to get my wife on a ladder in the foyer? No way!
I’d rather not even think about that. Plus, she and most women are afraid of heights.
As far as summer dresses, i wish she and my daughters would just make dresses instead of running up bills every month that I have to pay. I bought each of them a sewing machine. The plastic is still on all three.
I actually have a sick sewing machine. You can do so much with a modern version. My grandmother was amazed. She said back in the day there were fewer settings and options. I get into making my own clothes in when I started intermediate school. You have to want to do that sort of stuff. It’s just a hobby.
Check out the link to NYPL events page with a KW search of “sewing.” There are actually many classes and workshops.

Hey Junior Assistant Editor or whatever–
There are actually –NO– sewing classes on SI.
Big fail–I hope you try harder next time. 🙁
If you ever hope to be promoted you should try harder.
“”she and most women are afraid of heights””
so r most guys
Crank, I think your wedding band was the last jewelry your wife has seen! 😀
Both NinjaPaul and the author of this opinion piece are into motors, it seems.
Hmmm….
How do I know? Look at the writer’s avatar. It is a shiny new motor. And, Crank, you just let on about Paul.
Is NinjaPaul secretly the Workingman with Brains?
I am starting to wonder.
Stop wondering.
It’s not me.
I am a Conservative. Not a Republican. There are differences, you know.
Not all the things Republicans do are fine with Conservatives, just so you know.
Some of what they do is definitely not conservative in any way.
As much as the writer says he’s not MAGA…..he sure sounds like it.
Could the guy be more fired up for Trump? I don’t think so.
You really think only two guys mess around with motors for work?
What planet are you on, guy?
It’s your kind of lazy brained thinking that causes society to rot.
What are the differences?
Paul I don’t agree with you. I am republican and we are 1000% conservative. You are out of your mind. I do agree with you about the other guy thinking your the writer but you saying the writer is part of the MAGA crowd and the writer says he is not that doesn’t make sense. Why would he say that? I can’t think of a reason.
MAGA means something.
You don’t have be be a part of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement to like Trump.
To me MAGA is someone who goes to rallies, maybe locally or even Trump rallies. Someone who shows up.
It’s a culture and everyone knows everyone like a family. There is a social part of it.
I mean you can be based and not be MAGA. So it makes sense if you think about it.
Maybe the writer is not a MAGA member but there is no official membership roster either. It’s what a guy or gal identifies with.
The writer is also guilty of lame brained thinking Paul.
Who are all these billionaires the writer is talking about? I don’t know and I am not going to bother looking it up. Not going to waste my time. I know there are a few on Trump’s team. So what?
And, everyone but Trump is a Mama’s boy? Okayyy
This opinion piece SUCKS A** and is just a bunch of opinions from a person who didn’t really even look up the facts. They write in such a general way and it isn’t even accurate.
You should really get to know MAGA people, author. We don’t bite.
Trump is nothing special and I think you all are crazy for worshiping him.
He is just another guy.
He sold you all though on him and this image so I guess on second thought he can sell really well.
I’ll give him that. But that is not everything.
No. YOU ARE JUST ANOTHER GUY. Trump is….well, Trump. If you weren’t living under a rock since the 80’s and you live in NYC you would know that Trump is not just another guy. Like him or hate him but at least be real. YOU are generic. Just another guy.
You don’t even use an avatar.
You say you are a master plumber but I highly highly doubt that.
Why do you doubt I’m a master tradesman? Probably because you’re not and so you can’t imagine anyone else would put the hard work and time in. Oh.. and you don’t use an avatar either bub. I don’t worship politicians or stars. That’s just me.
‘Some say the Evangelicals are a bit much. Almost radical. Trump is the voice of reason. A sane Protestant.’
What the hell does that even mean? I am a Catholic so I have no idea what they are even talking about. How are protestants more sane than Evangelicals? Anyone else care to jump in here and come to the editorial writer’s defense?
I am not trolling. I just don’t get it.
Evangelicals are, in fact, Protestants.
But I get the author’s intent. Traditional Protestants versus the Evangelicals.
Very different.
Those that call themselves “evangelicals” versus those who call themselves “Protestants.”
Evangelicals are also called Born Again Christians.
Many believe that evolution isn’t real.
There are so many different kinds of Protestants, really.
Evangelicals are those ****s that make you pray with them and then tell you you’re saved. I had that happen once. We prayed, OK, it was an odd request, but why not? Next thing the guy is saying I’m born again. I was like huh? I’m already a Christian. I got so upset. He was very insulting to my faith and basically made no sense. He did not save me or convert me but he seemed to not be able to understand that. His prayers with me weren’t a magical incantation and just walking around thinking you’re saved means nothing. So I’ve had a few other experiences. They always come at you with Jesus. I find it very disrespectful as a Christian. My faith is real. No less real than theirs.
I’ve met those types. I don’t wear a sign saying “S-tanist” so I have had this experience as well.
I prayed with them when they asked. I am a Satanist who believes in letting people be free and express themselves.
I told them afterwards that I worship both S-tan and the Creator after we prayed and they were confused A*.
When I told them that TO ME Sa-an represents intelligence and other VIRTUES not VICES they became defensive.
I was raised Christian so I was totally familiar with their arguments.
I told them no Little Red Devil ever makes you sin. I said, “You CHOOSE to sin. YOU sin when you want to. Face the consequences.”
They said Satan LEADS people into sin. I disagree. TO ME, Sat-n just keeps score.
So I responded with, “YOU LEAD YOURSELF.
Be a big boy. Face it.”
That got the dude nearly aggressive. He really wanted to hit me. He left snarling and snickering that I was just trolling but I was definitely not.
Blaming someone else, the poor Devil, for his own sins he committed himself, then scapegoating it all, his disgusting sins, on poor Christ’s back.
Trump does not partner with Sacha Baron Cohen.
Oh, and, that’s how you properly spell that star’s name, folks.
I didn’t come away thinking the opinion piece writer was saying that Trump made a deal with Borat. 😐
Just that he will listen to anyone and hear what they have to say.
JUST a quick FYI:
It wasn’t Borat. It was that other character he does, Ali G.
Incredible skit. There are clip reels on YouTube. The whole series with the ‘ice creamed glove’ is bonkers.
Irreverent entertainment for sure.
it was Ali G
