Yes Bus Acting Camp Accepting Applications: Staten Islanders, All NYC Residents, New Jersey Students With Manhattan Access Encouraged To Apply

Share

We’ve previously covered the Yes Bus Acting Camp’s application opening when it first started.

We sat down with the camp’s founders, who are actors, directors, and producers themselves. Their own journey into this career began with a simple acting class. Apply for the camp by June 15th here.

Not only were they introduced to a medium that helped them build confidence and learn other life skills, but it set them on a journey to bring a classic Broadway show to movie life with their box office hit ‘Mean Girls,’ a story from the millennial generation retold for the current generation of young people.  Fun and inspiring, it’s become a cultural phenomenon of sorts.

The goal of the Yes Bus Acting Camp is to give kids who normally wouldn’t have a chance to be exposed to an acting class or camp, particularly immigrant kids (since Arturo is an immigrant who arrived as a child from Mexico), the chance he was given to be exposed to acting.

As they mention, these types of classes are helpful even if students don’t decide to pursue acting as an actual career. It can help build their confidence and inspire them to live their own dreams in their own life.  Helping them to know that anything is possible and that they have a creative outlet can provide room for personal growth to happen.

Most importantly with regard to the camp is that if you’re interested and can make the trip each day (the only requirement outside of being in high school), you should apply.  Put yourself in front of the camera and show the world who you are.  Participants may even surprise themselves, and learn that they really love doing this and want to do the hard work required to make it their career.  While being an actor isn’t for everyone, joining this fun camp can be for anyone who wants to learn about acting and about themselves in a deeper way.

In addition to our conversation with the founders,  check out the video above to see what the camp is like and to hear stories of past participants about what they loved most about the camp. Applications can be submitted via their website, where you can learn everything you need to know to apply.
