My name is Jeff Solomons and I am the owner of a website that allows people to buy and sell their cemetery plots. The website is www.cemeteryplotlistings.com . I know what you are thinking and yes, it’s a strange subject, but a lot of people have plots that they either inherited or bought and then moved to a different state and no longer need it. Many people are selling their plots, and many are looking to buy at a discount.
Staten Islander News asked the following questions of the owner, Jeff Solomons, about his company and what he hopes it will provide to the community:
1- What made you want to start this company?
My son is an Autistic person and he has future plans but I worry they may not work out. So I was looking for a business I could start for him and hand off so he has a form of income.
2- How did you get started?
I was researching different types of ideas and come across an article about people who had plots they no longer needed and were looking to sell. I thought this was interesting and after looking at sites like mine, I realized they were doing a poor job.
3- Who are your services appropriate for?
Our website serves anybody looking to sell a cemertery plot and anybody who needs or wants to buy one at a discount.
4- What options are available for Staten Islanders who have plots they would like to sell?
They can list with us. Our fees are just $49.00 for the year and we do the marketing to sell them.
5- Is there a cost to use your platform such as a listing fee or completed sale fee?
Our fee is $49.00 to list your plot. We don’t take any commissions when the plot is sold.
6- What are your company’s goals for the next year or two?
We would like to grow to be the US place to go to buy and sell cemetery plots.
7- Are there other ways you or your organization are involved with the community, such as local charities or city organizations who provide assistance to residents?
We are a new company that started in February. We are not currently involved in any type of charity but I like that idea and once we grow I will consider it and see if we are a good fit.
8- What do you most want readers to know about you or your company?
We are an honest company that is doing our best to try and get your plot sold. It’s a tough business, but we are working hard for our clients.
