Wagner College to Celebrate Being Center Stage

STATEN ISLAND — O gather ye now, both high and low,
From borough, bridge, and yonder distant shore —
For tidings grand do stir upon the breeze,
And Staten Isle shall this day wear a crown!

At Wagner’s noble halls — where art is bred
And young ambition takes to painted boards —
There shall be revels rich in sound and spice,
To mark a triumph writ in golden ink.
The scrolls of Princeton, learned and austere,
Have named this house of students bold and brave
The foremost stage in all the realm of states!
Numbered the first! Not second, nor the third —
But crowned atop the ladder’s lofty peak.

On Tuesday next, as Sol begins to fall,
At four o’clock until the stroke of seven,
Before Main Hall, where ivy clings with pride,
Shall music rise, and tables groan with feast;
And lo! A banner, proud and tall, shall fly —
A sigil of this honor newly won.

Come one, come all! Ye scribes with ink-stained hands,
Ye watchers of the world through lens and pen —
Draw near, bear witness, set your records down,
And let this moment live beyond its hour.

For theatre lives where hearts do dare to speak,
And Wagner’s heart doth thunder like a drum.
Let none forget — this night, this stage, this flame —
When Wagner stood, and all the world took note.

Wagner College held an evening of celebration to mark its designation as the top student theatre program in the United States by the Princeton Review.

“Fall for Theatre” was from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28 outside Main Hall on Wagner’s Campus, One Campus Road, Staten Island. It featured food, music and the unveiling of a banner honoring Wagner College Theatre.  Due to heavy winds and the incredible popularity of the food offerings, the event ended early.  Many students were wearing the shirts the next morning in support of their very own Theater Program!

Princeton Review named Wagner the No. 1 College Theater Program in the United States in its 2026 Best 391 Colleges edition, released in August.
