Staten Island Comic Fest Scheduled For June, Organizers Collectors Confessions Talk Fans, Conventions, Building Community

Staten Islander News Organization sat down with Chad and Brian, the duo behind Collector’s Confessions, a successful YouTube channel for fans of comics, pop culture, horror, and other topics.  

Chad and Brian have interviewed some legendary creators and actors, and their channel is currently at over 51,000 views.  They talked about the current state of the comics universe on Staten Island, where we have only two actual shops remaining.  With the costs of rent increasing in recent years, along with wider availability of comics online, fewer people were frequenting these locations, some of which have been around for decades.

One things that the island does not have enough of, despite the demand for it when it is offered, is comic conventions.  There are only two regular conventions on the island, so Chad decided to create one, and he and Brian have been putting it together since.  For those who don’t know, conventions are a great place to meet other fans, dress up as your favorite characters (from comics or movies), and find comics to purchase to bring home.

The event is family friendly, and all ages are welcome.  The convention will be at the Flagship Brewery on Staten Island, and people are welcome to stop by anytime.  The event is free, and there will be raffles for giveaways throughout the show.  Chad gave us a sneak peak of some of the items that will be available, so be sure to watch the video for more details.  They have partnered with the publishers of the Dummy book series for some giveaways and many others.  There will be something for everyone, and it at Staten Island’s own Flagship Brewery.
