Staten Island’s First Annual Comic Book Fest Next Sunday – Collectors Confessions
First Annual Staten Island Comic Fest is Next Sunday
By Chad Farley
Growing up on Staten Island, some of my favorite weekends were spent attending local collectible shows with friends. They were often held in American Legion halls, school gymnasiums, church basements, and community centers. The rooms were packed with comic books, sports cards, action figures, memorabilia, and collectors eager to share stories about their latest finds.
Long before online marketplaces and social media groups, these shows were where collectors gathered. They were places where friendships were formed, collections were built, and lifelong hobbies took root.
If you remember those days, next weekend may feel like a welcome trip down memory lane.
Collectors Confessions is proud to present the first-ever Staten Island Comic Fest, a new event designed to celebrate the hobby, the community, and the excitement of collecting. The event will take place at Flagship Brewery, one of Staten Island’s premier destinations, creating a unique atmosphere where fans can enjoy comics, collectibles, great conversations, and even a locally crafted beverage.
Best of all, admission is completely free and the event is open to all ages.
Attendees will find a wide variety of vendors from across New York and New Jersey offering comic books, graphic novels, action figures, toys, trading cards, artwork, collectibles, and pop culture memorabilia. Whether you’re a longtime collector searching for a key issue, a casual fan looking for a favorite character, or a parent introducing your children to the hobby for the first time, there will be something for everyone.
The event will also feature several special guests and exhibitors. Among them will be Comics: The Magazine, making its first-ever appearance at a comic convention, along with Collectrade, an innovative new platform designed specifically for collectors. Staten Island’s own JHU Comic Books will also be participating, bringing one of the area’s most respected comic retailers to the show floor.
Throughout the day, attendees can enjoy panel discussions focused on comic books, collecting, and pop culture, as well as appearances by cosplayers bringing beloved characters to life. There will also be free giveaways and opportunities to connect with fellow fans and creators.
More than anything, Staten Island Comic Fest is an effort to revive a tradition that was once a regular part of life on Staten Island. For decades, local collectible shows brought together people from all walks of life through a shared passion for comics, cards, toys, and pop culture. Our goal is not only to celebrate that history but also to introduce a new generation to the excitement of collecting and community.
Whether you’re hunting for a vintage Marvel comic, a collectible card, a Superman action figure, or simply looking for a fun family outing, Staten Island Comic Fest promises to be a memorable day.
We hope this will be the first of many annual events that continue to grow and become a staple of Staten Island’s collecting community.
We invite everyone to come out, explore, discover something new, and help us celebrate the hobby that has brought collectors together for generations.
