Spain Becomes First Nation To Codify Transgender Rights Into Law, Banning Conversion Therapy, Expanding Abortion Access, Creating Menstrual Leave

BREAKING NEWS: On Thursday, February 16th, Spain solidified trans rights into national law, banned conversion therapy, and expanded abortion access! [They also created menstrual leave, where women suffering from severe menstrual pain can take paid leave-Editor’s Note]

I always say that “tomorrow will be different” — but last week, legislators in Spain made a major declaration that TODAY will be different.

Spain is proof we don’t have to let the right-wing culture wars win. We can elect politicians who lead with compassion and open minds, who seek to understand — not grandstand.

Congratulations to the activists of Spain for these huge wins! While all of this passed in one day, it took years of work to get to this moment. I truly believe the U.S. can continue to move equality forward for all of our neighbors.
