BP Fossella Announces Intention To File Lawsuit Against MTA To Stop Congestion Pricing, “Anti-Driving Tax”
BP Fossella Announces Staten Island is Laying Foundation for Lawsuit Against MTA over Congestion Pricing
This is an effort ‘to defeat congestion pricing in court one way, or another’
He spoke directly with Randy Mastro, the attorney who filed the New Jersey lawsuit on behalf of Governor Phil Murphy, and will state his support for the New Jersey case and outline preparations for a new legal challenge, in the event the New Jersey case does not prevail.
Borough President Fossella will be reaching out to other elected officials and parties throughout the New York City and tri-state area to organize efforts to “defeat congestion pricing in court, one way or another.”
In addition, Borough President Fossella will challenge the Federal Highway Administration’s finding of “no significant impact” in its environmental assessment, as traffic will undoubtedly increase on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, the Staten Island Expressway, and by extension, local roads.
Borough President Fossella will urge all decision-makers and citizens to start calling “congestion pricing” what it really is — “an anti-driving tax.”
Note: Congestion pricing was expected to roll out in the coming months, and was expected to add a daily cost of $23 for drivers entering specific parts of Manhattan, in an effort to decrease congestion and pollution. Most politicians feel this would have a devastating impact on our economy, including Rep. Malliotakis and Senator Lanza.
