Come Out Tomorrow To Protect Traditional Medicare For TWU Retirees: Submit Affidavits Describing How Medicare Change Will Negatively Impact Retired Transit Workers
Our fight to protect our Traditional Medicare continues. Come out on Jan 25th
*The attorney and notary public will only be available tomorrow to accept and review drafts. However, all affidavits must be submitted to the court on Tuesday, January 30th.
The following statement was provided to Staten Islander News by Anita of TWU100R
TWU100R is new to this whole process, so we are scrambling for affidavits. We have retirees all over which makes it that much more difficult, but we are determined.
We have invited retirees to come to Brooklyn to meet the TWUR100 team, as well as our attorney.
We will have a notary public present, and lite refreshments will be available.
About TWU100R
TWU100R is a group of retirees who met socially.
We are former members and officers of TWU Local 100 who stayed in touch during retirement.
We became concerned when we learned that the union, in cooperation with the MTA, eliminated traditional Medicare in the last contract. As a result we formed this organization to fight back.
Our traditional Medicare has been replaced with a for profit Aetna Medicare Advantage plan.
We are concerned because this plan requires pre-authorizations, and may delay or even deny medical care.
The health decisions formerly made by you and your doctor must now rely on a corporate okay.
While Aetna Medicare Advantage may work for many people, we are only asking that those who wish to remain in traditional Medicare should have that option.
