Limitless Monday: Inconvenient As A Word Is For Losers

Limitless Monday – Why the word inconvenient is for losers

When someone tells you “it’s inconvenient,” that’s usually code for, “I am too lazy to try.” Another way of looking at it is, they have given up. When you hear yourself saying, “it’s inconvenient,” that often means you must make some fundamental changes in your life before you lose any more time.

Let’s consider a few examples of inconveniences which are a signal of problems afoot.

The word inconvenient is used to signify laziness or lack of drive. It’s an indication of habitually avoiding hard decisions. It’s called flip flopping. No one likes a flip-flop. Flip-flops rarely make a success of their life.

It’s inconvenient to find a new job, the same job you have been stagnating in for years.

It’s inconvenient to dump your girlfriend, the same girlfriend who you have little in common with and is more interested in the sound of her own voice than listening to your ambitions and concerns.

The phrase ‘inconvenient’ is a suggestion of not being willing to take an alternate path, an unwillingness to experiment or be adventurous.

It is inconvenient to change my schedule and go to that yoga class.

It is inconvenient to go to the networking event with that life-changing keynote speaker.

If you find yourself using the word ‘inconvenient’ in both thought and communication to avoid doing something that you clearly understood could deliver a positive outcome, you must carefully assess what is behind this reluctance.

Ask, why is it inconvenient? Are you too busy? That’s the standard pathetic answer. Busy doing what? Washing your hair? Watching, “How I Met Your Mother” for the third time? Browsing your Instagram feed?

Yeh, it’s an effort to pull your butt off the couch. That problem does not sit with you alone. We all suffer from it. But it’s the individual who turns inconvenient to convenient who is living their best life.

When given an opportunity to do something which is going to take some effort or a break from tradition, don’t think too hard about it, just do it. Develop flow in your life, not a dam.

Happy Monday!
