Editor’s note: Staten Islander News has previously covered the InterFaith Center of New York in an article by Rev. Dr. Chloe Breyer about the importance of accepting and assisting all New Yorkers, regardless of your own faith or of theirs.

We’re awaiting post event photos, and will add them once they’ve been received.

NEW YORK – A broad-based group of faith leaders and NGO leaders, including Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum, Rev. Serene Jones, and Sunita Viswanath, gathered at St. Paul & St. Andrew United Methodist Church (W 86th St. & West End) for a joint prayer service and commitment to action after a divisive election cycle. Leaders will share prayers of reflection as well as prayers which call all to action.

The faith communities involved include groups who have worked for years to welcome immigrants, feed and clothe the unhoused, and fight for the marginalized. The service involved both a celebration of that work and a commitment to double down in the coming years.

A unity walk preceded the service, leaving from Union Theological Seminary’s campus (121st & Broadway) at 5:00 PM and walking down Broadway to St. Paul & St. Andrew.

Rev Terry Troia of Staten Island Hunger Task Force will also be offering a prayer.
