For Staten Islanders Looking To Give Or Receive For Local Children: Toy Drives, Food Drives, Toy & Clothing Giveaways Benefiting Local Families Starting Today, Continuing This Week – Many Holiday Activities For Kids
Below, readers can learn about toy drives and giveaways (of both toys and coats) occurring on the island, starting this afternoon. Some require brand new, unwrapped toys, other allow for new toys that are not in their original packaging.
The below events are this week:
NYC Taxi & Limousine Comm. Is Giving Away Toys To Member Drivers For Their Families, Since These Parents Often Work Long Hours, Leaving Little Shopping Time:
TLC/NYSFTD will make up to two toys available for each TLC-licensed driver visiting TLC’s Long Island City Licensing facility, where hundreds of drivers pass through each day as they conduct routine business.
At TLC’s LIC Licensing Facility, 31-00 47th Avenue (The Falchi Building), 3rd floor, Long Island City, NY 11101, TODAY 9am-3pm. Event will launch with brief remarks from NYSFTD President Steven Rivera and TLC Commissioner David Do.

Unused unwrapped toys can be donated Monday through Friday at the locations shown in the second flyer, below. The giveaway is on Wednesday, and all are welcome to join in the fun, featuring snacks, toys, photos with Santa Claus AND the Grinch!

We have been running a toy drive with WhereToTurn.Org, a non-profit here in Staten Island, and we would like to get the word out that we have our toy request forms for deserving families in need now online on our website. Families will be contacted to schedule a pickup for their toys. Donors can drop off their toys until the 18th:

As the holiday season approaches, so does the fear of food insecurity for many Staten Islanders. To do what we can, and build on the massive success of our Thanksgiving drive, I have launched another food drive effort running NOW – December 22nd.
If you are able to make a donation of non-perishable food items, we have two drop-off locations open during the week: my office at 2090 Victory Blvd and Valley Bank at 1731 Victory Blvd. More info on the flyer below.

Our Amazon Wish List has toys for children of all ages: Puzzles, books, board games, dolls, action figures — and more.
